Best small car- Is smallest best?

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Ok I’m going
to have some fun with this article. But if you looking for a super small car
then you may be able to take this article seriously, the cars I talk about
below could quite possibly be the best small car for you! Last series on top
gear Jeremy Clarkson took the world’s smallest car for a drive around the BBC
studios. This was the Peel P50; it was truly hilarious episode to watch as
Jeremy is well over 6ft. Despite his size he was able to attend meetings and
access places other cars could never dream of.  The Peel has dimensions of
54inches long and 41inches wide. It also weighs less than me at a mere
59kilograms!

So on to the
performance! It has a 49cc engine that produces 4.2hp; this can propel the car
to speeds of 38mph which must seem quite daunting when sitting in such a small
and vulnerable car. It holds the record for being the smallest car ever to go
into production and was built by a small company based on the isle of man a
total of fifty were produced of which approximately twenty remain. These can be
bought for prices up to £50,000 due to their collectability. However there are replicas’
being produced in Nottingham England for around £10,000 if you really fancy one.

But! Has a
new smallest car been created? Created by a talented British engineer Terry
Watkins this new smallest car is only 51inches long and 26inches wide. It was
built using the chassis of a quad bike and a shell from a postman pat
children’s ride. It has not yet been confirmed as the world’s smallest car but
the owner is confident it will be. There is no performance information available
yet but I doubt it will quite live up to its roadster looks.

Sorry if you were hoping for something more serious but I
